Navigating Uncertainty: Great Leaders Stay Calm When Plans Change

This October, Lily took the lead as we entered a local corn maze with friends. She had a printed map in hand and plenty of confidence that she could guide us through without any wrong turns.
We got lost. More than once.
At one point, we found ourselves staring at a familiar dead end. Lily paused, looked at the map, looked back at the trail behind us, and said, “OK, we just need to go a different way.” Then she turned and led the group down a new path.
In that moment, I realized just how much her approach applies to business. You can have the perfect strategy, the right tools, and a confident team, but still end up off course. The real test is how you respond.
In business, the best leaders are not the ones who never make mistakes. They are the ones who stay calm, adjust their approach, and keep moving forward.
Lily may not have realized it, but her calm problem-solving in the maze was a great reminder. Getting lost is part of the journey. What matters is that you keep going.
