Lessons with Lily: Finding Your Groove

This month’s adventure took us to a place filled with music, glitter, and milkshakes—the kindergarten prom. Lily, dressed in her pink dress and full of excitement, was ready for a night of fun. What unfolded turned out to be more than just a night of dancing—it was a masterclass in confidence, connection, and community.
At first, Lily stood back, a little unsure of how to jump in. The music played, the lights flashed, and little by little, she found her groove. Before long, she was out on the dance floor—spinning, laughing, and letting loose with her classmates. It didn’t take long before she was surrounded by new friends, laughing and moving together to the beat.
Lily didn’t just dance—she networked in the way only a kindergartener can. She introduced herself to kids she hadn’t met yet, invited others to join in, and even organized a little group to get milkshakes together afterward. Watching her work the room reminded me just how natural relationship-building can be when you lead with joy, curiosity, and a welcoming spirit.
In business, we often forget that same spirit applies. Finding your groove might look like getting comfortable in a new leadership role, figuring out how to better serve your team, or even just learning to show up more authentically in a crowded room. When you lean into who you are and open yourself to connection, momentum starts to build—just like it did for Lily on the dance floor.
So, whether you’re walking into your next client meeting or leading a company-wide initiative, take a cue from Lily: find your rhythm, connect with others, and don’t forget to enjoy a milkshake (or your favorite reward) when the night winds down.
